What began as a travel and family blog gradually became something else. It became a record of navigating major life changes while living abroad, raising children overseas, and figuring out who I am in the middle of it all.

Hi, I’m glad you’re here.
I’m Erin Webster, a teacher from rural Tennessee currently living in Turkmenistan with my two children.
In 2025 our family left the United States and moved halfway around the world to pursue international teaching.
HOW THIS BLOG STARTED
The Websters Go Global began as a way to document our family’s move from rural Tennessee to Turkmenistan.
What started as a record of international teaching, travel, and life abroad gradually became something more personal.
Living overseas has a way of stripping away routines, assumptions, and familiar landmarks. Along the way, I found myself writing less about destinations and more about the questions that surfaced in the middle of change—identity, family, resilience, belonging, and what it means to rebuild a life in unfamiliar places.
Today, this blog is part travel journal, part personal essay collection, and part record of what happens when a family builds a life overseas while navigating change in real time.

WHY I WRITE
I write because words help me understand where I’ve been, where I am, and where I’m going.
Some seasons of life are loud. Writing helps me hear myself again.
I also write because I wanted the kind of stories I couldn’t find when I was preparing for this move—honest ones. Not just the highlights, but the confusion, loneliness, mistakes, uncertainty, and growth that happen in between.
